Ok so against my better judgement, I decided to start wrapping some parts tonight. I always wanted to try this and I couldn't sit on this stuff another day. First off, laying this stuff is fun for about ten minutes. It is incredibly time consuming and is now probably going to keep me up for another hour.
Did the prep, applied the base resin, carbon, and first coat of clear resin. Now I wait to finish up the edges in a while.
As it sits now:

Here's what the upholder is looking like this morning. Resin is still drying due to crappy weather all night. Will still need another coat

Yep that looks tedious, lol. Should look good when you're done though, good luck.

are those fibers easy to unravel? we did something with carbon fiber and other composites in school and the cf was so annoying just trying to keep the fibers together at the edges.

looks good though. :)

they do want to come apart, but if you time it right its not bad. i worked the middle first and once the epoxy started to set i worked the edges. this way the edges stick together easier and seperate less. they say to leave extra to compensate for it

yeah this is one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time. honestly at first it was a little discouraging, once it starts to set its not nearly as bad. i dont think i will be doing as much as i thought with this though. also i feel like it would be much easier to wrap something like a lip or hood. big, flat smooth surfaces. not the small annoying nook and cranny kinda stuff i decided to do.

I thought about wrapping my center console also, but looking at the close tolerance(fit) of the panels, I wasn't sure if everything would go back together due to the added thickness of the C/F weave and clearcoat.

also, is there some trick or tip to keeping the pattern straight after you lay it down? I noticed in your first pic the weave isn't perfectly straight..not criticizing you my man, just asking in general.

It's tedious, but it's going to look good when you're done. Just definitely be patient with it, stuff is pain to deal with.
