don't be too hard on yourself. You handled yourself in a good manner and it seems like the shop owner finally came around.

Alot of well intentioned shop owners get in over there heads in business. they take too much work and get swamped. deadlines are forgotten and life catches up with them. It's bad business and alot of RESPECTABLE mechanics lose business and/or have to shut down over stuff like this. They don't know how to efficiently run a business. Just because you are a good mechanic doesn't mean you are a good businessman. Usually if these same people are working under the wing of another business as a lead mechanic they excel but on their own AS A BUSINESS OWNER/MECHANIC they might not fare so well.
