i have the sony cdx-gt202 headunit. i recently got subs and they dont hit very hard so i was looking for how to turn the sub volume up and cant find anything at all on how to do it. i read the manuel and it explained how to do it with the cdx-gt200 with the remote, but mine doesnt come with a remote so idk if im able to turn it up. anyone know anything about this?

You may need a stronger amp, sony xpload will not suffice some rockfords.

be like it is
what is/are the voice coil(s) impedance? how are they wired?

as for the specifics of the headunit, i have no idea. the gain knob is for matching output voltage of your headunit's RCAs...its not a volume knob...
