Once again, other than looks, I don't see a purpose of a staggerd set up on a FWD car.
I doubt if you'll notice a improvement with a one size difference
And normally, on a staggered set up the rear tires and wheels are wider than the fronts

Well a FWD race car certainly wouldn't put bigger tires and wheels on the rear of the car would it? That's just dragging around extra weight. If by normal you mean RWD, then yes that would make sense.

Perfect example of what I'm talking about, stop it 7 seconds in and read the wheel/tire specs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXbwO9Mb2zo

Well, with race cars with a FWD set up, yes they would be staggered.
But once again, that's only for drag cars and not for daily drivers

....s2000 comes staggered, rwd, DD.

It's just not common to see it on a fwd car, but it makes perfect sense if you think about it.

yeah i guess you are right, but for $50 for 2 tires with 85%-90% tread its almost too good of a deal too pass up on.

My front tires are almost done anyway, so i am gonna pick up another set of 225 for the front.

BTW my tires are the continental conti-sport summer tire, pretty good tire imho.

I agree.* If anything you want more rubber and grip up front to combat understeer.
Not necessarily. If I remember right, the old Bozz Speed Mitsubishi Evo V had a staggered tire setup, with the larger tires in the rear. They found that with this setup, (as opposed to the same sizes all around or having the wider tires up front) their lap times around Tsukuba had dropped. I know its hard to compare FWD to AWD, but it's something to think about when talking about understeer.

well as pontiac always said before... "Wider is Better!!" but wide tires on fwd drive car is kinda pointless... u usally put the wider tire on the axle of the car... just so they can grip better under driving... take a funny car for example... but 215 to 225... its not really much of a difference so i dunno

AWD cars are inherently more rwd than fwd.

Wider tire on the axle of the car? Where do you think the axles on a FWD car are? Funny cars are rwd.

no i mean in the aspect that funny cars/drag cars have the slicks/wider tires on the axle of the car as in funny cars have the slicks on the back for rwd... drag civics/cobalts and other fwd have the slicks/wider tires on the front

Even for road racing, FWD cars can be staggered. I will be running 255 in front and 225s in the rear, possibly wider in front on my EF Civic race car.

Reason being is that on a FWD car you are asking your front wheels to stop, steer, and accelerate the car, not to mention that the usual front biased weight distribution on a FWD car doesn't help lower lap times...

If you want to stager your tires, wide up front. We don't drive V-dubs here... :p
