Re: STi for V6 Accord - Pittsburgh, PA

there was a guy selling his v6 6spd manual for like 8k ish..

i think his name is tekrice? or something like that...

check that out

Tek_Rice and changaroo are both selling swapped(engine + 6spd) Coupes.

Paul aka Tek_Rice took his car off the market. he decided that for the power he got it pushing and the gas millage it was still getting he couldn't find anything that much better for the price he was trying to sell it for. Sentimental value played a good part in it too if i heard our last conversation right.

Re: STi for V6 Accord - Pittsburgh, PA

I think I may go to a dealer tomorrow and try to find a virgin V6 Accord and build it up myself. How serious is the 'auto-tragic' issue? I don't want to get this car, then have the tranny blow up the next day. They extended the warranty to what, 109,000 miles right?

PS. sentimental value is why I miss my Accord. Lord knows my STi is faster.

Re: STi for V6 Accord - Pittsburgh, PA

"Automatic transmission: On V6 models, transmissions may fail due to lack of thread-locking compound on nut for low clutch. Honda/Acura has extended warranty on affected vehicles to 7 years or 100,000 miles. (1999-2002)" - Consumer Guides article extract.

I took my car in to the local dealership in 2009. I drive a 2001. they wouldn't do me any favors. Said i would have to pay for the complete rebuild, or new tranny and install myself.

Feeling defeated, I disconnected the battery, clearing the CEL, and basically hoped for the best. and luckily the tranny hasn't acted up since.

Get a 4cyl 5spd then h22 swap and boost it. You'll be faster then your sti if done right.

There aren't any stock V6's with manual transmission, only automatic.

really?? I never knew that. well this whole plan is effed

How...did you not know this? lol

Good luck unloading the STi. There are enough fanboys out there, shouldn't be too hard to find a buyer. I have no idea what's going on in that engine bay, no room for anything, bleh.
