But right now, the only coupes acura produce are too cheap (RSX) or too expensive (NSX).

Actually you can count both of these out. RSX is done and NSX has been done for awhile now. I'm still waiting to see what the TSX coupe will look like.

IMO, I think is very difficult to produce a car to compete with the Mercedez S600, maybe BMW 7 series but no S class, remember this, When ppl talk abt Acura they think Honda and they don't take the brand as a lexurious brand that can be compare to Mercedes or BMW.

I'm a person who think like this: If I had $60K to spend on a car I wouldn't get a Bimmer or a Mercedes, I would rather get an RL fully loaded or a TL-S Fully loaded. I don't think you can get a 5 series or a SLS 500 well equipped for that price.

Well Avalon is Toyota so its consider an entry brand... The lexury is Lexus... So the RL would compete to lexury brands not entry brands.

I just built a 5 series BMW starting at MSRP $58k and its final price fully equiped was $80,512.

And I also did it on the RL MSRP $53K and its final price fully equiped was $60,343

that just means the acura had less options :)

Well ^^^ that could be also true but BMW is more espensive on extras that Acura. My point is that $60K its just not enough to get a well built Bimmer 5 series but you could always find a nice RL.

as andyryck said image is a problem, acura is seen as a step down from the big boys (bmw, lexus, mercedes), Acura is seen as something you settle for if you cant affored a REAL luxury car. you can also argue theyre not doing much right now to change that image, but I have faith in Acura, hell, Infiniti came out of nowhere, acura can do it too!
