2000 4D V6 EX 220k miles
I just bought this car for $650 (he was trying to sell it for $1k)from a guy that has a tow companie and he clearly mention that the car in second gear start slipping, I put the gear in D4 and 1st works fine but second is just revving and no moving, I have read that this could be from the ATF to the solenoids to the worst, the whole transmission, the car is in good shape, the motor sounds fine, the same with the suspension, it has a leak and I think that is coming from the valve cover, I checked the car history just one owner, no accidents, clean title, and the last smog check was 4 years ago and it pass and the miles aren't roll back, I'm draining and filling the ATF and cleaning solenoids, but the main question is clearly that the car has a problem with the trans doesnt show up any check engine light, it isn't like is cover up or doesn't have a light bulb, the light is working, so is kinda suspicious to me and I've drove 11 miles and hasn't show up, another thing I'm afraid that the car doesn't pass the smog check, I've heard that in cali in kinda expensive to pass it, and what else could be besides the ATF and solenoids? so what's your opinion?
