Transmission Filter?

Hi. Because of the problems our Accord have with the transmissions in the V6, I am looking for any advantage I can get to make it last longer. I found an external transmission filter made by a company called Magnefine. I has a super strong magnet in the filter to suck up any particles in the transmission. It hooks onto the return line. Does anybody know the size of the transmission return line for a 2002 Accord V6 Coupe? The filter comes in 1/2, 3/8, and 9/16 of an inch.

If you're going to run something to help prolong the life of the trans, run a trans cooler or an external filter if you're that worried about it. That magnetic filter is just a scam. The drain plug on the trans has a magnet on it.

This filter is an external filter. And a member on V6 Preformance cut one open and showed how much crap it captured from the transmission. I don't think it's a scam, I just want to know the size of the return lines.

3/8. Napa sells them under Raybestos brand or get them through the brand of Magefine. I put a new one on my car every 20k when I drain 3qt of trans fluid. Been using these little filter for over 200k miles now.

And No, these filters are not a scam. Please do your research and watch documentation of the filter available online.

I have 210k on my v6 trans, with auto-x, and no hard shifts. I do regular changes, 3qts at a time, nothing added, no filter or cooler.

It gets all honda atf.

What wears is the clutch packs, no steel, not magnetic. The only thing that can stick is the 'steels', the parts that turn blue and get full of scores when they wear. What usually goes bad is 2nd gear.

My magnet always comes out clean.

Oh, and trans filters can cause engine lights on some models due to drop in pressure, caused by common tools used by ****ty shops.

I personally have never cut one opened but I have seen many videos online and photos of cut open Magnefine filters. Inside the filter housing has a filter and at the end has magnets, it is an actual filter. The filter helps but it is not going to save an automatic transmission if the owner drives hard, jerky acceleration, and neglect maintenance of fluid. I think the Honda transmission are not designed to take heat very well so if the trans fluid breaks down there goes the clutch pack and torque converter against heat protection which cause slipping and eventually lead to rebuilding the internals.
