Anybody know what is the weight of a V-6 transmission from a 1998-2002 Honda Accord (BX7A), without the torque converter? I am guessing around 125-140 lbs. I need to pick it up from a shipping pallet so I am hoping I can lift it myself.

I have lifted a Ford AOD and GM TH700R tranny myself, but that was in my younger days. Those suckers must weigh around 180-190 lbs without the converters.

With tq converter they're near 200 lbs, without they're a little less. I wouldn't recommend deadlifting one lol. Bring a hoist with you or something.

Unfortunately, you are quite close. I picked up the tranny from the shipping agent yesterday. I did not actually weigh it, but I estimate the BX7A tranny to be around 200 lbs alone, with the torque convertor weighing around 30 lbs. I can lift it maybe 5-6" off the ground to swing it, but dead lifting to waist height ain't easy. Fortunately, somebody at the shipping dock help me carry the tranny into the trunk of my 2000 Accord.

The V-6 tranny looks small from inside the engine compartment, but there is a bulge on the side where the input/output shaft goes.

This tranny actually weighs more than a V-8 tranny like a GM TH700-R or Ford AOD, because those trannies have the clutch packs recessed within another and the build is more streamlined. They don't have any heavy gears in them like the constant mesh design of the Honda. Since Borg Warner had a patent on the design, Honda had to invent something else. Unfortunately, they made the mistake of not providing adequate lubrication to the clutch packs. Also because of the lack of an oil pan, you have to take it apart to replace the filter.
