weird prob after washing engine bay...

soo..... i had time to work on the car today... took one spark plug out and cranked the car with spark plug near the valve cover... nothing.. no spark.. so, i am guessing it;s the dizzy...

took it out just now, but how do i check if it is still ok? i am an electrical noob btw :redface2:

id say the distributor got wet, take a hair drryer to it or replace it. Next time pop the cap and give it a shot of wd-40 before you wash it.

interesting... will do tht next time... wat will teh wd40 do tho? just make it waterproof? :thinking:


so, gonna order a new dizzy later on.. hope tht will fix the prob

it displaces the water. Ive had old junkers that wouldnt run if it was raining out unless I did this once in a while

I would try cleaning the contacts on the cap and rotor with sandpaper before you go buy a dizzy.

There are a few electrical test you can do with a multimeter that would tell you if it's bad. Should be in a service manual.

I wouldn't buy a new distributor, a junk yard one should be fine for now.
