Like everyone else pointed out, make sure the tranny shifts fine and when you notice something weird about it, your best bet is to try another 6thgen possibly 5speed

If its taken care of and you dont beat itll last awhile, as long as its been maintained up until now though. If you want install a tranny cooler as well to aid in the trannys life. I know some of the ppl from our local club have hit the high 200s to 300s and are still running allright

Sweet! Not to ask too many questions, but as a student would this be a good commuter car. Lets say that it's in great condition, well maintained. Can I expect to easily go another 40-60k. I have 2.5 years of college left and this is all the money I have been saving up, so it's do or die.

my v6 auto tranny has 140K on it and it's the original tranny. Not everyone is lucky to have it last that long though.

As long as you perform all the minor maintenance before you drive the car, it should be fine. I would change the oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and install a transmission cooler as soon as possible. That way, you can make sure your car is properly cooled down as heat is the first thing that causes the transmission to fail.

Oh, I forgot to mention. ONLY use Honda ATF-Z1 for the transmission fluid. It's the recommend fluid and if you put anything else in it, it might give you problems.

Thanks for all the positive help! Is the transmission cooler a hard mod?
