Ha! I think a G23 sounds great, but I lack on the "honda" experience to frankenstein multiple generations of motors together...that, and I'm looking for minimal downtime, and reliability too..

Update- I bought a 98' F23A1 mated to a 5spd. So I guess its a go for a manual swap! AND I have a spare F23 block for a G23 build if I decide to get real stupid!! Hopefully I can source the rest of the parts I need. I have the manual transmission, starter, axles, complete harness so far...I will probably remove both the motor and transmission now for ease of the master cylinder/pedal assembly...
