I know, its another one of those "my car wont start" threads, but ive searched and things dont sound the same for mine. here's the deal:

- My car cranks, but it wont fire.
- Yes I hear the fuel pump, so thats working.
- Battery is brand new, so are the terminals.
- I just pulled out the spark plug wires, and the 3rd one looks a little worn, its yellow and there looks like part of the black coating chipped off.
- I dont have the tools to take out the spark plugs and check them.
- I called my friend and he said do a "spark test" and he basically told me take a spark plug wire off, hold a screw driver like an inch away from the distributor, but dont touch it, and have someone start the car. Im too scared to do that, so i refuse to attempt.
- If this matters, normally after you turn the car on or start it, the green key symbol blinks like 5 or 6 times then goes away. Mine did not go away and just kept blinking. I tried my normal key and the spare key, nothing.
- And if this makes a difference, i noticed that the order of my spark plugs is 4-3-2-1, is it supposed to be a different order? it worked in this order jus yesterday.

At this point, I think its the spark plug wires, but I would have thought it would at least start up. Please, give me any suggestions.

Lookin through my haynes here but too many options to ask or go through w/out actually being there to see the car. At this point though, def something spark or electrically related.

So the car will crank but will not fire, correct?

correct. i was jus lookin through my haynes manual as well, but all the wires, terminals are strapped in. unless its something i cant visually see or if its my spark plug wires, i dont know what else it could be.

try this. unplug the spark wires from the spark plugs. start the car. slowly and careful put the spark wires close to the spark plug. try to put them as close to each other as possible then if you see sparks flying from the wires to the plugs, then those plugs are fine. then try the other 4/6 plugs (i4/v6). do not pull out ALL wires out. when you pull the wires away from the spark plugs, you can tell that when on idle, it feels like the car is about to shut off. as long as you see sparks, you're fine.

to check the spark plugs themselves, go here for instructions.

good luck!
