Just show your registration to your dealer and they will make a brand new key using the VIN. It cost me about $25-30.

yeah, i think mine was like 120 in 05, of course +towing each way. Since my only key was in the jacket that was stolen right before I left the country.

Just buy a blank key from like ebay or amazon and have the honda dealer cut it "accord"-ingly :D to fit the ignition.

IIRC, I bought a duplicate from the dealership a few years back for less than $30. I will try to find the receipt to confirm.

Your stealership is on crack if they want $186. This ain't no Benz! Even with the keyless entry remote and extra key, it should be less than $100.

edit: Here's the invoice. $40

The old remote start method.

Have your key copies cut, as many as you want!
---THEN---
Cut the key shaft off of your key and duct tape the head inside your car's steering shaft cover.

I just asked the dealer, its $186 omg

I got ripped off by the stealership as well back in 2010. I still have the receipt, 179.62 after tax. And I drove in with the original key and registration. They charged me 60 for the key and 100 for an hour labour. I should have complained. The worst part is that I lost my "180 dollar" spare key a few months later. Never got another after that first experience and still going strong on my 1 original.
