Won't start - any advise?

Just replaced the main relay ...what a pain in the butt if your not the size of a 5 year old boy.

Question:
I replaced the evap canister vent valve ...not too difficult other than the rusted bolts that hold it to the canister. I assumed that once this was changed my check engine light would go off, it did not. Is this something that has to be cleared by an analyzer or will it eventually go off on it's own?
If it has to be cleared, is that something the guys at Autozone can do ?

Yah, usually takes 3 'cycles' to clear.

Or, disconnect the battery for ~15 minutes to let the capacitors in the ECM die and have it 'start fresh'

But, depending on the autozone person, they won't. They aren't supposed to.
