WooHOO!!! First Ticket!!

Gotta luv sunny california.

So I was driving back from the bank. Right before I pulled onto my street, I saw a cop car behind a car that just got pulled over, so I switched lanes and passed going like 20 mph. Then the cop pulls back onto the road, tails me, shines his flood light on me, then the dreaded sound... his ****ing siren. I was literally 50 feet from my house.

Cop comes up to me and says, "you know why I pulled you over?" I wanted to say "cuz your a ****ing dick, with nothing better to do." but I knew better. I said no sir. He said its cuz of your modified exhaust system. Then he uttered the words you never wanna hear," Do you have any other modifcation's done to your engine?" lying was futile cause he was gonna pop my hood regardless. So I said intake and exhaust manifold (which I dont have carb stickers for.)

I told them that I read california's vehicle code and it specifically said that exhaust modifications are illegal only if it exceeds 95 decibels. They said its not realistic for them to carry decibel meters around and they have to site me from what they see. cause I was at 2k from when I got pulled over. They popped my hood, sited me for my header, but the cop obviously was a noobie or sumthing because he thought the "hydrolock warning" sticker was the carb sticker.

I also asked them if they pull over loud *** 67 mustand and escalades with flows, they said no, becuase most likley suvs and trucks dont have other illegal modifcations and the majority of the racers in my area are imports . So they admitted to having a doublestandard ****in pigs.

To top it off the cop said this is one of the nicest cars he's pulled over. wow...gee.. that makes me feel a whole lot better!

so if anyone has a stock muffler for sale... I NEED ONE AT ANY PRICE, becuase supposedly Im not allowed to drive my car until I get it fixed...hmmm I wonder how Im gonna drive my car to the state ref when its illegal to drive my car in the first place!

I think Im gonna get a new muffler and paint it flat black...stealth mode baby. Maybe I'll paint my axle back pipe black too.

Worse part is I had no shoes on, it was 11 and I had to cash a check at the bank of america drive thru real quick. He told me to get out of my car and face my car, and he patted me down ( I was basically half naked), and made me get out and sit on the curb in basically my boxers (gym shorts and a wife beater), and he called up another squad car, ALL FOR A MUFFLER, aint that sum sh*t.

Get it ref'd to see if it's legal. You pay $38 for every other ref job. So you pay $38 pass or fail, free the second time - retest. The customer service rep told me the test will consist of sound/db check, visual inspecticion and basically a smog. I'm getting mine ref'd actually next week. So the logic here is get it ref'd with the exhaust on first. If you pass, yeah, if not, reschedule with it back to stock.

One more thing, the ref job is being preformed on the Evergreen Community College campus. I think I've seen you before on the road going on Capitol or some main street.

Im gonna get another muffler regradless so I dont gotta deal with this **** again.

About the visual inspection part, I only got cited for modifed exhaust, I was compliant, so they passed on my bolt ons. So is the ref gonna make me pop my hood?

SO does the ref only check out whats on the ticket because i have an HID retroift too.

cali does suck i had 3 of those tickets back when i drove a 96gsx...and i have a micota HID kit...whats a retrofit hid kit and is hid illegal? i mean alot of stock cars have them...
