so i got her running 100% yesterday. in the morning, i started it up and went on a ride, but i was still not making any boost. starting to worry about the turbo, i pulled the filter off, and let it idle, and eventually tugged the throttle to get it to spin up the turbine a little. sure enough, the blades were just slightly nicking the compressor housing... not good.
i also noticed that the compressor housing was not flush, and that one or two of the bolts were noticeably loose... really not good.
so, after a 2 hour cool down, i removed the turbo and expected to find a blown seal and other issues... instead, i found that the o ring that seals the compressor was shot. no biggie, i can fix that easy. then, i take a look at the compressor housing. sure enough, there was some light grazing of the inlet. so, i sanded it down about 1.5mm and cleaned it up a little. i used epoxy (yes, i am that ghetto) to seal the compressor housing back up again, since i was not about to go buy a new o ring right now. after letting it set, and getting it back on the car after replacing all the compressor bolts, i took the car out, and sure enough, it made boost, and made it FAST.
im pretty sure that this was an issue id had for a while with the turbo, and that this just took care of a lot of problems as far as turbo spool time, and boost presure.
today, i detailed the interior totally, which is really really awesome, cause it hadnt been cleaned in over a year and a half... and i started cleaning the exterior lightly, just so it dont look like a POS when i get it on the road next week. im really glad i fixed the turbo issue, i was freaking out thinking i was gonna have to buy a rebuild kit, or i was gonna need a new turbo... but now, its running better than it ever has, and im really happy.
ill have updates soon, ima be busy with my girl all weekend, but i may get it out for a ride, and to get some gas for the tank lol.
