Maint Req'd light flashes for 5 seconds when starting

Is my car trying to tell me something or is that normal? I don't think I've noticed it before.

it will come on every 7500 miles to inform you its time for regular scheduled maintnace.. its not a warning, its nothing to worry about. its just programed into the ECU for the stunads who dont know anything about cars.


your owners manual will tell you how to reset it. (if you dont reset it, in another thousand miles or so it will stay on til you reset it)

Yea my car did that last month to let me know my battery was about to die

Put the key in the ignition, hold down the "reset" button on the gauge cluster, turn the key to the "on" position while holding the button for 10 sec.

This will reset the light.

The light doesn't stay on, it just blinks for about 5 seconds on a cold startup. I'm due for an oil change, belts, water pump and trans fluid anyway - $$$$$

Yea my car did that last month to let me know my battery was about to die

it actually turned on for my odyssey also. i went to autozone to get a reading code, somehow it says o2 sensor is bad. when i brought it to the shop, he just said it's just time to get the car check-up. haha

^^Are you sure it wasn't the CEL?

PEOPLE.....

DOn't confuse the Maintaince light with the Check Engine Light

In this pic, The yellow arrow is pointing to the CEL
The other light on the right side of the CEL is the maint. Req light

To reset your maint. Req light
1) hold down the trip reset button
2) turn key foward to on position....BUT DO NOT START THE CAR
3) hold reset button for 10 seconds/until light goes out
4) turn car off, release button.
5) start car and light should be out
