Not a fan of soldering either. $20 isnt too bad a price. My problem is with the dealer cutting my key. Ive asked them before and they wouldnt even consider it. All i got was, "No. No. No."

Why does the dealer have to cut it? Cant any key cutting place cut car keys? (I have a little key cuttings store by my house thats why I ask) There something special only a dealer can do?

Why are you guys so obsessed with these keys?? Are ya'll dropped yet??
Couldn't agree more... Seems like $100-$160 + headaches + ruining your spare key for no added benefit, and it seems to take up more space than the key+remote

Can a person just use the chip set in the old key fob and relocate the buttons via soldering to new positions so that they line up with the buttons on the new key fob, then get the switchblade key cut ?

you can't resolder a circuitboard

Not obsessed. Its just a neat little thing. And I like the idea of having my key and fob in one neat, little package.

As for being lowered or not, thats your prerogative. Remember; its my car. I do what I want. Theres no rule or law that says the very first thing i have to do is lower my car.

and these instructions... http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/645799-flip-key-option-that-works/page__st__25

Ive also given thought to a fob similar to these...http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-03-07...s&fits=Make:Honda&hash=item1e6c9d2acc&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flip-Foldin...s&fits=Make:Honda&hash=item230d578a46&vxp=mtr

They're all relatively similar, just pick your favorite design.

I know there's a lot talk about transponders and all that mess but Ive done my research. Most, if not all, of those fobs are LARGER than our 98-02 fobs. Which means not only would the circuit boards fit, but there'd be room for the chip from a spare key.

I dont see why the same instructions used by the s2k guys couldnt be applied here as well. No reprogrammign needed and if you use the chip from a spare key, it should all work. IDK the exact range but if a chip can be placed in the aftermarket fob, and work, it should work with any fob.
