These checks are such a waste of time, money, and resources. I would be very frusterated as well that the part of the fail status has nothing to do with the emissions end of things. And I agree the feds should not be stepping in on this, if someone wants to drive a car that pollutes like all hell, it's their ****ing prerogative. And most cars that people are buying these days are pretty economical with the price of gas and economical standings we live in, not to mention federal regulations (again) that manufacturers have to adhere to. And generally the worse a vehicle pollutes, the more fuel it uses and the less people want to drive it nowadays anyway. There are worse problems to solve than bothering people with this miniscule shit, like education or social security.
And plugging your J30 ECU back in would likely yield more codes given that the motor and harness and numerous other corresponding parts were swapped.
