To all the people asking about suspension GET COILOVERS. You'll get them eventually and dont put nice rims on your monster truck stock suspension! Always lower your car.

@RedRyder, I'm kind of looking for the same thing as well. I'm looking for a good tire to fit XXR 535 17x7 +35. I know tirerack has suggested tire sizes for non-XXR rims and that is I think 205/50(or 55)r17. What do you think?

you are 4cyl?

I'm looking into some XXR 521 18x8.5 but idk to get +25 or +35. I'm on H&R springs (2.2"F 1.75"R drop). Getting 225/45/18 to eliminate any wheel gap

With that drop I'd go with +35, you'll be poking too much with +25

Go with 205/40r17 or 205/40r17 but id go with something wider than 7.

40 sidewall is a little small, at least for his drop. I'd stick to 45

225 for a 7.5in wheel is a little wide I think. Go to tirerack.com or something and when you pick a wheel (17x7.5) it will give you a recommended tire size. 205/50r17 to be exact.

The optimal measured rim width for a 225/45-17 tire is in fact 7.5". I've used this setup on my LGT, and it can be found in the specs for the Bridgestone RE970AS on TireRack. (I'd link it, but apparently I'm banned from doing so for my first 7 days here)

If you are V6 (205/60/16) the correct tire specs would be 215/50/17. I had 17x7 with 215/50's on stock suspension at first, there are pics in my ride thread. For stock height it didn't look horrible.
Either way it won't rub.

My whole reason for swapping rims is to get up to the 225 section width for additional traction. I currently have 215/55-16's on the stock rims, and it was an improvement, but I'd like a bit more if possible. That said, you're correct that the profile I want is actually 50, not 45. The 45's will leave me with too much wheel gap and a -2.77% speedometer variance. A 225/50-17 tire should nicely fill out the wheel well, and only leave me with a +0.67% variance . . . unfortunately that tire is better suited for a 7.0" rim. (7.5" is still within acceptable tolerance) So although the overall diameter is 0.17" taller and the tread section width is 1" wider on this setup, I don't thiiiink it will rub if the offset is correct. That said, what offset should I be looking for assuming I go with a 225/50-17 on a 7.5" rim? What offset did you use on your 215/50-17 setup? Thanks!

^My 17x7's were OEM CL Type-S wheels, I believe they were +52. OEM EX V6 wheels are +55.

With a 7.5" width rim at stock height you won't run into any problems rubbing. Stay around +42 or above.

@RedRyder, yeah I'm a 4cyl but I keep changing my mind between XXR 527 and XXR 962 17x8.25 & 17x7. I'm leaning more towards the 962 only because the wheel width isn't too big to where I would need body panel modifications. And I plan on going lower on Tein S techs but I want the rims first. Would 205/50r17 work?

Excellent, that's what I was hoping to hear. Do you happen to have a link to the photos of your car on the 215/50-17's at stock height? Thanks!

You should really lower the car first and have your drop where you want it before looking at wheels. A lot of things change as the car goes lower, it should be at the final decided ride height where you take measurements and figure out wheel specs.

How low are you wanting to go on the Teins? If you are going 2” or lower I’d go with the 8.25” width. A 7” width wheel is going to look sunk otherwise. Offsets of these wheels are important too, what are they?

Yes, 205/50/17 would be the correct size to use to keep close to the OEM overall diameter as your OEM tire size is 195/65/15.

Like I mentioned there are pics in my ride thread, which you can search for or click the link in my sig below. It’s the first couple pics.

This should be the first commandment of rim/tire selection!

Alright I changed my mind for wheels. I will choose XXR 962 17x9. My question now is will I need a hubcentric ring? The wheels' bore is 73.1mm and idk what the oem bore size is?
