don't know what your budget is but 100-200 dollars can go a long way.
then there's always get a custom made item with you two or something you two always do or say. sentimental gifts.

i think couples should make lists of things they want and buy 1 or 2 things from that list. that way you get exactly what you want, but it's still a surprise.
