I'm Old
That's the common years, its because that is when Honda switched to these transmissions and they were poorly constructed.
Sounds like a decent price. Was that a national chain or a local shop?
does this auto tranny problem happen to 98-00 only or it apply to others also? reason i asked is bc i see most people around 98-00 have these problem......any idea?!,?
Cottman Transmission - National Chain, I would've had a warranty but I blew the trans from nitrous use. So, no warranty not that I care, I've abused it and its holding up just fine.
The people that worked there were retards though. They somehow switched the TPS and MAP sensor connections when reinstalling and I had to go down there and show them how retarded they were with all their fancy diagnostic tools. I knew exactly what it was within 5 minutes of being there.
From what I've read the problem is with the whole (98-02) 6thGen. Honda extended the trans warranty on the 00-01's, so I assume they saw enough early failures to justify it. I haven't been able to find a good reason why the 02's were excluded. If you look at sites like carcomplaints.com and the NHTSA's site you will see a sh*tload of 02 trans failures.
Isn't there security screws on the TPS sensor? Why would they need to take it off anyways
They didn't take it off, the plugs on the engine harness are identical.
