I honestly have to say the word "ricer" is overused and most commonly used by people who have no idea what it even means. I recently ran into a dude I hadn't seen since high school. Turns out mommy and daddy bought him an 06 civic Si with a greddy turbo thrown on, nothing else, stock internals, stock head, etc. I went for a ride in it and the dumbass couldn't even drive it. granny shifting, constantly blowing off the BOV lol, and he didn't even get it above 4500 rpms...... but that wasn't the end. We got back to the house we were partying at, and as I'm getting out he goes "so whatd ya think?"
I say "pretty fast for a 4 banger" I really wasn't impressed.
and he says "NO DUDE, its the SI, its a v6...." LMFAO. Not to mention he popped the hood before we went for a ride and it was clearly a K20. I'm not saying it's impossible to put a v6 into a newer civic but anyone whos popped the hood of one will tell you that 4cyl barely squeezes in there..... fitting a v6 in one would take an act of god.
Civics are definitely the most riced out cars out there, but they're not the only ricers. I love how some die hard GM fans will go around calling hondas ricers ALL day (even if its a bone stock honda) but as soon as they see a lowered cavilier with chrome hub caps and ebay tail lights, they don't say anything.
To me, a ricer is someone who thinks their car is the best in the state and has to go around showing off and driving like a 16 year old, and has no respect for any other cars on the street because their car is far superior than anything else.
A true car enthusiast is someone who can appreciate any car for what it is and the quality of the work put into it, and not discriminate against other brands.
Well put.
