So I found a oil leak...took it in to the mechanic and found out that its the main rear seal...between engine & tranny.

I need to fix this because the apartment manager doesn't want oil all over the floor, and told me cardboard won't do..=(

So. I'm on an automatic which is still decent after 200K kilometers...but would removing the tranny for this fix do anything bad to it? I'm of course assuming they dont drop it on the ground from 6 feet or something, but would moving it around/removing it cause any damage to the internals?

I can have them take out the engine...but removing the tranny is easier and would save me a bit of money on labour...

Any help is appreciated =)

Nothing should happen to the transmission if they are careful. Anyways the transmission gets damaged from driving the car not from removing it do maintenance to the car.

i dunno...i was going off the idea that doing a trannyt flush ruins it cuz it knocks loose whatever's holding the tranny together from breaking...

Just thought physically moving it around could have the same effects.

Unless someone tells me its the worst idea ever, I guess I'll go ahead...ahha thanks

I don't blame you for askin that lol, I would be apprehensive too. Except my question probably would have been, should the car be in Park when I remove the tranny. I'm sure that's an easy answer as well.

Good luck!

I can remove the transmission in a few hours, its nothing that difficult. As long as you have done it before and have all the right tools. Its not that bad.
