Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have the same issue, if you search back to my post, my F23A4 burns oil too...
When I did compression test, I noticed that cylinder #2 took a while to get to its number (forgot what is was) seemed like it struggled while all other cylinders had no problem.

Also noticed that if you drive like a grandpa and don't press at the gas pedal at all, it will burn very very little oil not much, but when you give it gas at least 3 times a week, by the end of month I can see it ate oil from top whole to middle.....

ive only noticed working at jiffy lube for 5 yrs people that are always late for oil changes tend to burn oil more, i have 140k and my oil looks the same as it comes out of the bottle after 2500, i use full synthetic , do oil change every 2500 to 2800 , try a engine flush get that gunk out and put new oil with a botel of lucas i did it to my 91 accord and after that it never burnt oil ever again even at 390k when i sold it
Engine oil flush you mean, right? That's safe to do (not like a tranny flush, right?)

And what's Lucas? My car needs a tune-up/full maintenance, I plan to knock out all the fluids/adjustments at once.

To be exact:
1= 180
2= 179
3= 180
4= 179.5

Basically the same. Either way they're good, I was just curious about the service limit. With a compression ration of I think 8.5:1 180 seems pretty damn good.

I never smell any burned oil, engine is as clean as a .... new engine? Lol. Maybe its just thirsty.

9:3:1

If your a DX 8:8:1

Like Brandon said before, there really is no service limit, if your compression is uniform....your engine is good. As the miles are put on your motor, all the cylinder should lose compression evenly. It would take years and a lot of miles, if you change your oil regulary.

Whatever Jiffy lube instilled in you is wrong, you dont need an engine flush if you use the good oil and change it on time.

Engine flushes will ruin your car, it can clog oil galleries. Its not part of Toyota, Honda or any other manufactures specs. And it will VOID your warranty.

I had a nissan hardbody with 365k and I never did an engine flush, I bought it from the original owner who always changed his oil on time or before it was due. I took the head off to do a head gasket and that engine was clean enough to eat off.

I have a dx. And I'm sure there is a service limit, usually stated in a haynes manual. I'm sure 100's across the aboard isn't exactly serviceable.

Either way, I'm gonna change to full synthetic and see what happens.

Basically your flushing a solvent through your engine to break-up/dissolve any sludge/build-up. At least thats what I've read.

And Honda does not recommend an engine flush in any of their maintenance schedules, despite what any quick-change oil place tells you.

Ohh, I gotcha. I worked at Jiffy lube for a while and this was never mentioned or even came up. I guess quick lube places really differ from place to place.

Yeah, pretty much any flush involving a high powered machine and your car = No no.

Hopefully the full synthetic oil will solve your problem! I've been running dyno oil on my car for the past 113k miles and I haven't had any problems so far. I would switch to synthetic but I already racked up too many miles on dyno oil so I don't wanna damage my car during the process of switching over.

Okay, if you want to get technical. Yes, any moving part in your car has a service limit. It just depends on how you take care of it, on engines...the service limit pretty much depends on the owner(s). How you drive plays an important role, and how often you do your maintanance.

Again, I have seen plenty of Hondas that have 300, 400 and even 500k miles with no rebuild and no smoke. So it's kinda up to you, and the way the previous owners treated the vehicle.
