Steering wheel shakes bad while braking at high speeds

I was driving home from NJ to Maine and when braking on the highway or at speeds of 35-40+ the steering wheel shakes really bad. My girlfriend drove part of the way and when I was the passenger the whole car shook. Brakes work fine but the shaking is really bad and the wheel literally rattles in my hands. I was thinking/hoping it needs to be aligned but I don't think so. Are the rotors warped and is this gonna cost me a fortune? I know the Accord rotors can't be trued and my cash flow is pretty much non existant and I am really irritated.

Anyone with the same problems/experience?

Your rotors probably are warped.

Thats my guess too. Can I just keep going on it? It is annoying but doesn't bother me that much and only does it occasionally and if I could avoid it for a while that might be best haha.

Also, how severe is this issue? After looking it up it looks like it is pretty common.

Rotors dont warp :lawl: they get glazed with pad debris. If you have not machined them before, get them turned and flat again.

depending on rotor life i guess u can pay some1 to resurface them and see how that goes. otherwise its ur rotor or rotor/pad, or unbalanced wheels, or need an alignment.

Really? Have you ever put a dial indicator on a rotor? They most certainly do warp.

Rotors are like $30 bucks each, just replace them. I wouldn't even bother trying to machine them, if they are that far out, you it wont work any way.
