More info on the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors

I bought these Mini Morimoto Stage III kit from TRS and did this exact retrofit too. But I also retroed some mid-90s Nissan Maxima corner lights outer lens. Kinda has the JDM Integra look now

I think Matt sent me your pictures to use as reference. I like the way the headlights look with the corner diffuser in there. Great idea, and props to you for trying it out. I'll see if I can get your pic up.

EDIT: So here is the pic Matt sent me. You can see how the housing will need to be slightly trimmed in front of the projector, as well as blackcord's retrofitted Maxima corner diffuser.

Yep. That my light alright. I didnt know that Matt was sharing my pics. Thanks for posting my pic av6_sm1ke. I took lots of pics. Just so busy recently to post the others. Hoping to get them installed on my car later this week.

I ordered the same kit from TRS and I'm just waiting for it to get here now. I think we will need to trim the housing in front of the reflector a little to get it to fit properly.

Just to clarify, 5th picture down, is that showing the bottom portion that needs to be cut to fit into the reflector? Looks like a cut needs to be made that angles slightly upwards, towards the bulb socket?

Also, something that just crossed my mind.. trimming the shrouds makes them less fragile, which makes them prone to breaking when trying to snap them on to the projectors. Not sure how much this will help, but it might be easier and less risky to snap the shrouds onto the projectors, and then trim the extra pieces off. What do you think?

In my case, I did have to trim the shroud a bit at the bottom. The top portion of the shroud is touching the reflector, but that does not affect anything.

I trimmed my shrouds off the projector. You will not be trimming that much and the shroud clips will not be touched.

I just received an email from TRS, and my stuff should be here this Friday!

How close should the cutoffs be together? and how did you splice the bixenon's to your high beams? thanks for the help

iv had my set sitting in my room for a few weeks along with fresh new headlights for them to go in.ha just been lazy.

so the reason you cant aim them correctly is due to not trimming the "blackhoused" part of the headlights? since they rub and no room to move projector left/right-up/down?

did you just use the rubber seal and nut or any of the h4/7 adapter locking plates?

In a perfect world, the distance between the step in the cutoffs should be the same as the distance between the lenses, if that makes sense.

Yep, I didn't trim enough so I can't move the projectors "outwards" anymore, but it's hardly noticeable once you're more than 10 ft. away from a wall.

I used all the parts, if I remember correctly. Seal for sure, nut for sure, and I ended up having to trim the 3-tabbed ring a bit for it to sit correctly (it's too large for it to be used with the 3 gray screws that hold the OEM bulb down, but I wanted the extra security so I trimmed the rings to work).



Since I totaled my car and was able to salvage the retrofit, they're currently installed on my friends 6th gen (ericthecheat) and look excellent with BCP paint.

This is probably a stupid lazy question,
but since these are almost plug and play with minor cutting depending on the shroud you pick..can these be done completely off the car? as in,You can adjust them properly once decided to mount them on the car?
Its just so cold outside and i dont want to take off my fresh painted bumper and such until im for sure installing them..I read you can adjust them with pliers for levelness then plus OEM adjustments?
any input.

Yes theyre adjustable once installed. Just try to get em as straight as possible so you won't have to do too much adjusting later
