1 quart every 4000 miles is not too bad to be honest. If you switch to a higher mileage oil such as Valvoline maxlife, chances are it'll help the motor reseal itself and it also doesn't burn as easily as normal oils out there. I burn about 1/2-1 quart every 1500 miles depending on what type of driving I do. Ever since I switch to Maxlife though, I burn maybe at most 1/2 quart every 1500 miles so I know this stuff actually works. I'm running 5W-30 as well and I know that oils such as Maxlife are slightly thicker than their ratings to help protect your motor. If you can get your hands on Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic, that would be even better as I hear people almost never burn oil when they run that. I would also recommend getting this oil filter:

It's a very high quality oil filter and they're on sale at the moment. I picked up 5 of these for my car and that's the limit Amazon allows per order. I would use this and a high quality oil to ensure that your cleaning out all the contaminants in the motor.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into that Maxlife!

OP, if you do buy the car I'd opt for using Castrol GTX High Mileage vs Valvoline Maxlife anyday or even Mobil Clean High Mileage. From running Castrol and Valvoline previously Castrol gave me better mpg and wasn't dark as sh1t when changed at 4000kms.

At the end of the day though, as long as you change the oil in proper intervals(4-5000km), change the oil filter and check the level every week you should be ok.

Ok, I'll definitely look into these oils. Are they both synthetic? I've heard that synthetics can cause oil leaks because the oil is so thin?

If you buy it you'll definitely need to swap for a 5sp tranny cause the auto is horrible.

How much is that swap?

I currently have a CB7, I don't think the swap is too bad. The 5-speed transmissions are pretty cheap. The CB7 needs too much work though as of now. I'll probably just buy a used one in good condition. They are all over the road in CT.

Well i just saw one pretty clean with a clear title for $1600

Yeah, it's something I'll get when I'm a little bit older. I really like the design of the 3rd Gen Accords and the 4th Gen. I'm a fan of the blocky style bodies. Hopefully I'll enjoy this 6th Gen just as much.
