1 quart every 4000 miles is not too bad to be honest. If you switch to a higher mileage oil such as Valvoline maxlife, chances are it'll help the motor reseal itself and it also doesn't burn as easily as normal oils out there. I burn about 1/2-1 quart every 1500 miles depending on what type of driving I do. Ever since I switch to Maxlife though, I burn maybe at most 1/2 quart every 1500 miles so I know this stuff actually works. I'm running 5W-30 as well and I know that oils such as Maxlife are slightly thicker than their ratings to help protect your motor. If you can get your hands on Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic, that would be even better as I hear people almost never burn oil when they run that. I would also recommend getting this oil filter:

It's a very high quality oil filter and they're on sale at the moment. I picked up 5 of these for my car and that's the limit Amazon allows per order. I would use this and a high quality oil to ensure that your cleaning out all the contaminants in the motor.
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into that Maxlife!
