Another H22A Swap. (I know.)

Hi,

First post here and of course, I have noob questions. I looked at a lot of forums, and this one seems to have the highest "signal-to-noise" ratio, if you know what I mean.

My roommate is swapping a 1997 H22A JDM Prelude engine and transmission into his 99 Accord with a dead F23A1. Wiring for this little project has fallen on me, as I have a electrical engineering background and a fairly experienced gearhead. (Just not with the Honda Cars... I prefer DOHC Cobras...)

Sooo, here lies the problem.

I have searched until my Google bled. I cannot find some critical things I need to know. I have to do this swap and maintain emission compliance via OBDII scanner here in Portland. I have in my possession a P5M ECU. I realize the immobilizer is an issue, but I believe I have already solved that one. :)

I have found swaps galore that use flashed OBDI ECUs, so those are not much help.

Does anybody have any idea on what the wiring entails? From what I can gather, I need to add a knock sensor to the OEM Accord harness and move some connectors from the crank snout area to the distributor area. I read in the H22A FAQ at the top of the page something about injector resistors, but it seems like maybe that is necessary only for OBDI engines?

Am I close?

Thank you so much in advance for answering my questions. And when this is done, I will happily post an addendum to the FAQ for an OBD2, 49-state swap.

Since it obd2 wiring should be straight forward with the except of depinning or cutting and splicing the wiring for the egr and adding and extending the wire from the crank and knock senors and and as for the resistor its not necessary to have it already require the appropriate amount of amps

Last your best bet is to search for and P13-A12 ecu to maintain to stay obd2 and for emission purposes but I deleted my egr cause I felt no use for and plus I have a guy that will pass me

But read this it should sum up whats what

Looking forward to it! Is there any benefit to deleting/blocking-off the EGR valve on the I4s? That is one question I have never found the answer to yet. I have a boosted setup and I was thinking of doing just that to eliminate extra components, by fabricating my own custom plate(s). I know on some cars it is a good benefit.

So, correct me if I am wrong. It seems as though a 99 Accord is OBDIIb, and the prelude ECU is a OBDIIa. So would an adaptor harness help?

Nice, I'm a V6 guy so I'm not much help. But PM Drift, he knows a good deal about this stuff. Good luck to you both on the swap!
