...If so is there something I can wrap in the meanwhile before I get it cut and welded?

Duct tape. :147703263745b138a51

But seriously this is a good question, because I think I might have scraped a hole in my flex pipe as well. Would be nice to temporarily patch it up until I can do something about it.

Maybe some exhaust/header wrap I'm assuming?

I have never seen anyone wrap that.

If the CAT is bad, then swap it out.

Biggest issue, might be seized bolts, so prepare for that.

Could be the flex pipe or bad rubber piece that the flange hooks to causing the rattling
if u go to a muffler spot they can have u turn the car on and see were its leaking.just a suggestions, good luck..
Also could be the front or back mounts bad and when it shifts could be separating too much.piping

Well I unbolted my cat today, unbolted the first side and the honeycomb inside was good but when I unbolted the other side little pieces started falling out. I'm glad I've found the culprit thanks to you guys! Now the only thing I gotta worry about now is getting rid of the exhaust smell..

Just go to any exhaust shop and get a new flexpipe welded on. Its nothing major to do.

I have this same exact problem, i know there's loose material in my cat because i jacked it up went under gave it a few love taps and there's a ton of rattling.
I have a good amount of exhaust leaks where my magnaflow muffle connects to the pipe down the middle( idk what it's called). Going to go to a muffler shop soon to see if they can cut and weld the pipe so it doesn't hang so low and to weld it closed.
Idk what the flexpipe is... gonna look into that lol
