Thanks for clarifying that, Kyle. I'll try pouring some water around the tail light tomorrow to see if i can find out where the water is coming in from. I'll inspect the rubber seal around the trunk and snap photos (if needed), if something doesn't seem right.

in this pic, see that white square about halfway between the tail light and the "front" of trunk opening, where it looks like a chunk of paint is missing?

that's a body seam. if you keep going up towards the front of the car, where more of that white crap is located, i'll bet you see more cracked paint.

there's your leak.

Like said before, your tail light probably isn't sealed correctly. If the taillight is just glued in your gonna have to properly bolt it in cause the glue won't hold forever

there's your leak.

I had a quick look today and all of that white color you see seems to just be faded paint, there are no cracks or holes anywhere along that area, its the same on the other side for some reason.

Plus, if there were cracks or holes there, then water wouldn't be pooling up there, right?

I think you're right, it is most likely a bad seal in the tail light but i will hopefully be able to confirm that tomorrow. However if it is a bad seal in the tail light, how will i fix it? :ughrun:

in the first picture, that "white" section is where the paint has cracked away. there is a body seam right there that is perpendicular to the trunk "channel" and was a poor design by honda.

in the second picture, see the fine scratch marks nearer to the "front" of the car? those are from the previous owner trying to sand it down to repaint/seal the cracked paint.

the easiest way to see where the water is coming in is to take out the trunk mat, jack daniels tray, the jack and accessories, then the 2 halves of the trunk liner. wait for a rainy day or get the hose out, then carefully lift the trunk afterwards and see where its wet.

the passenger side rust in my trunk was so bad that it penetrated the quarter panel from the inside...looked just like that before i fixed it.

it was all from that body seam leaking water due to the failed seam sealer.

I see now, that makes much more sense now, as i couldn't really see where the water could be coming from around the tail light, but the area you pointed out seems to be the most likely place that water is coming from. I will check it out tomorrow and let you know. Thanks a lot so far though! +rep should be coming to each of your way soon :smash:

forgot to add: the absolute dead giveaway if its the body seam(s) leaking is that when the trunk gets wet, you open the lid then put your hand inside the trunk and feel for water on the bottom side of the opening.
