Or both?

I've been having trouble with my driver's side window for a while now. It goes down fine, maybe a little slower than normal but it struggles like hell to go back up, especially 3-4 inches from reaching the top (then it REALLY slows down). It struggles even worse with just the car's battery on. Yesterday for the first time it stopped 2 inches from closing but all I did was wait an hour then it was able to be closed all the way.

Regardless of what the issue is I plan on buying a regulator/motor combo off ebay soon and swapping them myself, but does anyone know specifically what's causing this?

Yup sounds like the motor is tired and on it's way out. Go ahead and change the motor/regulator as a whole like you said, it's best to do the job once lol.

Perhaps it's the glass guides.
However the operating mechanisms are weak and will easily fail on all 4 windows

Aha
For a front window, it mostly rides in the B pillar groove up the door could be getting tight there

Ya make shure you get the combo, the junk yard will have oem which will probly last longer then a new china one! Make shure you get a 60 day warranty tho at least.

Amazing... see just getting involved in this conversation and the passenger front window just failed. Just got home in the car - daughter gets out and semi-slams the passenger door and the glass drops like 4 inches. She touches it and it slowly slides down the rest of way. I think it is fully inside the door now.

I will just repeat what I said before
:furious:the operating mechanisms are weak and will easily fail on all 4 windows:furious:

It's not like you can keep a spare around either Left is different from right: Front is different from rear
>----<>-----<

Just finished pulling apart the door and found the "up" cable had pulled thru the nylon housing and was stuck in the top - not repairable

Ordering part:
I was going to order the new part from South Bay Honda 30% off quick delivery something like $114 before delivery
Decided to go with a Dorman part thru Rock Auto $47 before delivery and it includes the motor (nothing wrong with the old motor - just the cheesy nylon parts)

Repair will continue this week - In the meantime, I did some photo's during the tear apart so I'll make a how to.

Where exactly is the B pillar groove? Is that like above the interior door handle on the right-ish side of the driver window? Because I do think it may be tight there, I get a few visible vertical streaks on my tint in that area from the window going up and down. (It's also the area where the dealership popped a dent out and re-clear coated the door).

The motor just likes to slow down and fight with me when I put the window up. It's worse on a rainy or cold day.

Also I did purchase the regulator/motor combo off eBay with a warranty. I could have snagged one at the junkyard but I wanted something brand new and for $45 shipped I can't complain.
