VERY bright interior dome light DIY

So.. This is hard to explain. So initially when wiring my amp, I ran the remote wire to behind that switch. And then more wire coming from that switch to the amp. So it was two wires basically. That would go into the switch, and then out. So I decided not to use the switch, so I just twisted the two wires together to make a normal remote wire. I then kept them twisted together, it put it into one end of a crimp 2 end butt connector. Then I ran a power from the empty end of the butt connector to the switch. So the remote wire would work separately from the the switch, while still sending 12v to the switch. Does that make sense...?

im either going to hard wire it to the battery for power and possibly ground or tap into the dimmer dome light wires.

when i ordered the two led strips of course the guy only sends me one so im waiting another week or so for the other to come from china. so ill have some time to think where i wanna put it.

do you like that its switch enabled or do you regret some not tapping into the dome light?

Nope. I like it on the switch. Wouldn't taking it straight from the battery be a little to direct for something that needs almost no power?

I want the whole lens to be lit up, not just a focused area in the center.

That's what I have in mine now. Its got 5 leds; 1 on all four sides and 1 on the top, facing out. It's bright, but im curious if a little 8 smd board would project more light. Plus it would fill the cover nicely, so it would look like a full led light.

8 leds isn't going to fill up the lens. my 3x5 board with 15 was only like half as wide as the door lens. I never test fitted them in there, but it definitely wasn't wide enough.

yeah ur right. when u put the wire behind the dash, did you just fish it thru or did you have to take anything off?

my stuff usually comes in 7-10 days. i guess its a hit or miss with the ebay seller. they might wait til they have a whole bunch of orders instead of heading down every day to the post office. ive noticed that if i get bulbs resent (for them sending me bad ones) that it comes alot faster. like they actually care specifically about that particular item shipping out quick.
