Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 5/18/11*

an adjustable proportioning valve is a great thing to have if your car is going to see the track alot and you want to fine tune it to get that perfect balance between front and rear brakes. If your going to do that I would also suggest flushing your fluid while the lines are open and replacing it with a high performance brake fluid. it really does make a world of difference over the stock fluid. also if you haven't done it already braided SS lines from the caliper to the hard lines will help you get the most out of your brakes as well since the stock rubber lines will expand a little bit when the brakes are applied. When this happens you aren't using all the braking force that your putting into it since some of it is being used to expand the rubber line. plus if they're still the factory lines the rubber probably isn't in the greatest condition as it is now so it wouldn't hurt to replace them.

These are just a few of the brake upgrades that I plan to do in the near future once the car is tuned and I have some money again.

hope this helps

Can't wait to cruise the Big Apple with ya bro! It'll have to happen when I get to that side of the country fa sho.

Knife-edging, balancing, and crank micropolishing is already being done. For injectors, eventually wanting to do Injector Dynamics 1000cc or 1500cc.

Never heard of Supertech, I'll have to look into them.. Sleeving is already being taken care of and internals figured out.. except for rods. Crower rods = $770...

Thanks for the advice Patrick, I'll definitely need to upgrade the fluid if I mess with the valve, or even if I don't. I have already replaced the OEM lines with Goodridge SS Braided lines all around during my 5-lug swap last year.

ye definitely upgrade fluids. all the guys I'm friends with who drift or road race tell me that its a night and day difference in braking with just upgrading to a better brake fluid. how much of a difference did the SS lines make for you? like could you feel a difference or no?

I didn't notice THAT much of a significant difference, but it seems to have made the brakes firmer or more responsive to pressure. I'm sure adding the fluid would be just perfect!

ya they all recommend upgrading pads and fluid before getting into any type of racing.

I have had Hawk HP+ pads since I upgraded pads several years ago, and have not done anything else. For sure a night and day difference for the grip those pads have, along with the reduction in brake dust is wonderful.
