so get in my car the other day and my speedometer is no longer working!!!

So far, i've tired looking for a fuse for it but have been unsuccessful. I've noticed that the speed gauge it self is the problem because the mileage screen is still working. so i can only figure the problem lies between, like a broke piece of plastic connected to the speedo needle. has any one every had this problem or no anything about this?

thanks for any help

Pull it out and take a look. btw the fuse panels on both ends of the dash and under the hood have diagrams that tell you what each port is for.

if the speed sensor is bad, another symptom will be no vtak ... if it does cross over then the speed sensor should be fine

i'd say speed sensor as well. My speedometer didnt work. Fuel was fine. Temp was fine. Mileage was fine. Replaced speed sensor and never looked back.

hey all thanks for all the feed back about this,

so.... after i posted this i noticed one day driving home that the speedometer started working again off and on. however, it seems different now, almost as if the needle is sluggish ( i suspect that the electric actuator is going bad ) so.... i just pulled the whole gauge cluster out, looks fine aired out any dust, cleaned the electric connections and what not. turned my car back on and its working now but I'm no expert but i think its the actuator, cause its working but its still sluggish.

one thing to mention is that i have a rather larger stereo system for a 4 cylinder( meaning that my amps want 140 amps at full power and the alternator only puts out 80 amps) i don't have my amplifiers running at full power but i still feel as if the overall draw may be causing electrical problems.

so dose any one out here know the part number, or know where to go to find a new one? id prefer not to have to go a pick and pull or a dealer.

a new cluster? or just the actuator? if you want the latter you won't find that by itself, you'll have to buy another cluster and swap it or just the actuator.
