Hard to imagine how a trans could get that dirty. Just plug the axle holes (and any other ones) and spray some engine degreaser or oven cleaner on there, let it sit, and hose it off. You should be able to shift through the gears somewhat easily, but it might be a bit difficult depending if the trans has sat without fluid for a while. Just go into each gear, turn the input shaft by hand, and make sure the diff spins with each gear.

Might also have to add a VSS to that list. BadgerType would be able to confirm this. What year is your car? I have a JET Performance 5-speed ECU I'm selling for $40 shipped, but it's only for 98-99 models.

That's where the VSS installs. From the photo, I can't tell what VSS is in there now. If it has the same 3-wire plug as the F23 VSS, you can just loop that fluid line back into itself (H23 VSS's have the same setup).

When it comes to cars, you can't go shopping blindly. You should have looked at the tranny code on that white sticker.

Re: Piecing the 5spd Swap together.... ( few pics )

yo AFAaccord.. thanks for the info

-the tranny goes in to all of the gears quite easily.
-according to the V.I.N, the tranny is from a 92-96 f22a1 prelude S
- so i am guessing that since this is a 92-96.. ur Ecu wont work on it right ?
- also.. where the VSS is.. the connector on top is broken off
so basically i need a new VSS

i am gonno get this VSS for like $45 shipped.
