Re: 6 gears > 4 [6spd + 3.2 swap]

Motor/trans is out. I cleaned the engine bay a bit to give the 6spd a proper welcome. :)

J30 and auto out. The auto weighs roughly 250 lbs. The 6spd weighs less than 100. :wtf1:

Here is the flywheel/clutch on the J30. We are making the diy for using the J30 first, so all this stuff will have to be taken off of it, then put on the J32, so we can document that too (since peole use both for swaps) - if there's enough time. If we run out of time...no 3.2 for me. :( But at least the DIY guide would be completed, which is great.

Nice update Chris, I really hope for you to get the 3.2 in! BUT I promise you that just the 6 speed and J30 is so much fun.

Rich deserves praise too, it was his idea. I'm just the volunteer. But we are going through the steps to make this a good guide, which is taking time.

We installed new timing parts on the J32, borrowed parts from another motor that were in better shape. We cleaned the injectors, IM, etc. The motor is pretty clean, with maybe around 60k miles on it...need to carfax the VIN on it to see for sure. Anyway, hope I get to use it. :)

EDIT: Tomorrow is the big day. Motor mounts get modified to be shorter, motor/trans get "mated" and go in the car, shifter gets hooked up, clutch/brake pedals get mounted. We plan to have it running. Good news: we're documenting hooking the J30 wiring, etc back up while its out of the car, so we can have more time to get the J32 in and documented. So good chance I will end up with the 3.2. :)

I am learning a TON. I've never spent an entire day working on a car in a shop. The day goes by soo fast. But this is really interesting. Anyway, more to come!

Fun fact: the crank pulley bolt is suppose to be torqued to 182 ft lbs. :ugh: the torque bar we have only went up to 152, so I got it to that, then put the impact wrench on it...that thing won't be going anywhere.

Shifter cables, ready to be connected to the tranny.

Shifter mounted. CL-S shifter holes line up exactly, so we could use all 4.

I am putting the flywheel/clutch on the J32 now. Rich and Mikey are working on mounting the clutch pedal.

Winning!

What vehicle was that other shifter from? They looked a little different in the pics. Did you check to see if the other one's holes lined up too? Also, I posted in your parts for sale thread asking if you're interested in selling it :)
