Possible to fit in the rear deck of a coupe? My buddy has 4 and an amp he pulled out of his wife's camaro that he's selling.

Subs are JL Audio (don't know model)
Crossfire Amp (again don't know model)

He said he'd let me have them, if they'll even fit.

Possible, but you'd have to reinforce the rear deck somehow... why not throw them in a box?

Don't want a box and there's nothing in the trunk for the box to sit on or attach to.

Ah, well the trunk deck is only like 18 gauge sheet metal, so I would imagine it would need some reinforcement. You would also have to seal the entire trunk, since deck mounting utilizes the trunk space as the box to produce sound.

No. Those are seals/deadener. He want to stick 8" subwoofers in the deck. A slim piece of neoprene is not going to stop the deck from rattling at 60Hz.

behind the panels on the sides of your rear seats...its all open. there's a bar you can mount the box to and space for a small box. i've actually been thinking about doing that with some 8s. will just have to sound deaden thos panels to make sure they dont vibrate. i've taken a pic of the area with the panel off if you want me to post it. ofcourse the panels can deaden the sound but itd be a very clean install and wont have to reinforce any metal

you wouldn't have to seal the trunk. it all depends on how much you care about this potential project, or if you are just thinking it might be worth doing as an improvement over stock without obviously trying to win anyone over for SQ or SPL

essentially you'd be running the subs in an infinite baffle setup, meaning the "enclosure" (which the entire trunk would be acting as) is too large to provide any pressure cushion against the speaker cone. some subs can't handle an IB setup, and so you might put them in and find out that they go wonky without air pressure pushing back on them and seize up or something. or they might not blow, but might just sound like **** or have very low output.

the other issue though would be depth, at least on the sedan there isn't much room below the deck until the trunk spring and other **** gets in the way. so you'd have to use baffles or something to elevate the subs an inch or two above the deck.

I don't know how often you use your backseat for people, but you could easily build a box to put on the floor behind your front seats. hell depending on how shallow these subs are you might even be able to fit them directly under your seats. I've even seen boxes built that tuck up in the very front of the passenger footwell. not saying it's the ideal setup but doesn't sound like you're going for perfection either

be like it is
inside the rear "armrests" ftw

wish i had a nice little space like that.

you could always build a small box that tucks right up to the back seat and bolt it to the package shelf and lower crossbar thinger, like where mine is bolted to.
