$1200 is way too high for two bumpers, you should be able to save ~300 or more going to a different place...

(getting 2 new bumpers and having them painted)

This shop is used by a lot of insurance agencies to do repairs, so maybe that explains the price. I'm sure they use the best quality paint. Still, $1200 is high for me. It's only a few small nicks on the rear, and 2 bigger scrapes on the front. I would feel better at $400/bumper. Anybody know a reputable shop in the Pittsburgh area?

wow where the hell are you guys bringing your cars? lol

I've gotten my car painted twice, the first because of the horrible factory peeling DEP paint from 98, and the second because of my accident this past February.

The place I bring it, NOT MAACO, NOT A CHEAP PLACE, an actual professional paint and auto body repair shop does stage 2 painting with sanding and priming for $850

haha I HOPE he means that via the connects he paid less for an otherwise expensive paint job...

It wouldn't make a difference how expensive the paintjob was if the supplies were $300. I doubt the shop took a loss on the materials, so it's unlikely that they bought $1500 materials and charged him for 20% of the price. Just the supplies alone on a mediocre full paint job are much more than $300...sandpaper, primer, sealer, basecoat, clearcoat, along with any catalysts or reducers that are potentially necessary. Sure, his "buddies" may have done the work and not charged any labor, but the supplies alone (even at wholesale prices) should have been double or triple that price for any halfway-decent paintjob. Some people don't understand that you get what you pay for, especially in terms of paint materials.

^Coming from the man who is all about a quality paint job right now!

:haysm9:

lmao.

I ordered the paint materials last night from TCP Global. After going through a million colors, the choice has been made and there's no turning back. It's actually a bit of a relief not having to contemplate things anymore.
