sooo this thread can always use a bump....

I have not gotten to mtn bike in about a month. So rainy that all of the trails are in horrible shape. Trying to ride my road as much as I can. But i went about 2-3 weeks without riding it because I was a tad under the weather.

Anybody have any new gear? I will probably be getting some more winter stuff, but not much because I need all of my money to go towards a new camera body.

Not sure if I have asked this before in this thread. But do any of you guys try and do certain things in preparation for a ride? Such as drink water certain hours beforehand, eat certain foods? That is one thing i am horrible at, and I can always tell when I go ride. I need to just start drinking water 24/7 so I am always hydrated. I also noticed on my last few rides my legs were starting to cramp up some. I am guessing that is because of hydration also. People say eat a banana for that, but wouldn't water be fine?

Article in a cycling magazine I get. Talks about momentous occasions cyclist have over their lifetime. Quite a few I have experienced and may always remember.

For example....just a few

09. When you hang out at the bike shop and no one expects you to buy anything
22. Riding a bike through a big, congested city and feeling smarter than everyone else because you’re moving.
28. Getting hopelessly lost—deliberately (Happened last week, I just went on random roads to extend my ride, and by some insane luck I ended up at a back entrance to the greenway....man was I happy haha)
42. Rolling through a stop sign—and knowing it was the right thing to do.
57. Deciding which car to buy in part based on how it will carry your bikes. ( I had a conversation dealing with this to someone this week)
72. Crashing and immediately asking, "How’s my bike?" (Except it was not my bike, it was the shop's Madone) haha I was more afraid of the bike being broke than the guy who crashed in front of me who was hurt haha
85. Outsprinting a crazed dog. (I know the exact place it happened)
87. Waving at a cyclist coming the other way and being ignored.
98. Looking inside the bottle you’ve been using all season, seeing mold (This was in my hydration pack for mtn biking)

Just picked up a cheap fixed gear to commute around on campus. Don't mind the handle bars that my friend installed too low.

I'm glad you're using a single speed frame. My biggest pet peeve is crappy conversions, so props to you for getting a proper frame.

Its actually a complete bike so I didn't have to worry about that at all.
