Re: brake pads

That's a little extreme. Just get some oem replacements if all you do is drive like grandma.

Re: brake pads

Pads work with any rotors. The HPS pads are a good pad to change too if you want upgraded stopping power without the worry of having noise or lots of dust that the HP+ pads have (or having to warm them when it gets cold... northern states and Canada only... 50 degrees and lower)

I would recommend that you change your rotors just because of the price of changing them is so cheap.

If you are staying with the old rotor, take it off and scratch it up with some sand paper especially if the rotor looks really shiney. That shine is the sign of a glazed rotor which greatly reduces braking capacity.

If your rotors are grooved then simply change them

Hope that helps. I should make an accord wiki lol.

Re: brake pads

I like the OEM pads much more than the hawk pads. Especially for daily driving.

Re: brake pads

You can't use sandpaper to remove the grooves. The only way to remove grooves are to turn the rotors, which for the price, you are better off buying new.

You use sandpaper on rotors that are glazed over to remove the glaze. It also removes any deposits left on the rotor from the previous pads that might interfear with the bedding in of a new set.

Re: brake pads

if you buy monroe ceramics right now theres a $20 rebate. i bought 2 sets for front and back for about $70, so after $40 in rebates, thats only aboud $30. not bad.

HPS pads are not aggressive enough to warp rotors, and it's always good to have the confidence of knowing you have great brakes! I used the HPS pads w/ stock rotors about 2 years ago when I had an Integra. Great set of brake pads.
