brakes squeal for a couple reasons...the shims are dry or the pad/rotor surface is smooth (both are already mentioned, but i didn't want to start the post with a sentence fragment :lawl:)...

besides lubing the rear of the pads (not really necessary but why not), you want to lube the little thin metal shims on the top and bottom of the pads...that is, think about the brake as cardinal directions...the shims are on the way north and south of the caliper bracket. they might even fall out when you pull the pads.

another "might as well" is scuffing the pad surface with some 80-ish grit sandpaper to make the surface rough again.

To lube it, I would have to remove the caliper, correct?
and as for scuffing the surface, I may give that a try because its quite obvious the surface is smooth, its almost a polished aluminum look lol.

No you would just pop out the pads like your going to change them....I mean you'll have to unbolt it, but not remove it like unhooking the brake line

yep, calipers have to come off the bracket. get a coat hanger, some stiff wire, or a bungee cord to hook around the spring to keep the weight of the caliper off the brake line. keep the bolts straight since (at least i think on these cars ) the top and bottom are different. i just do it so i never compared them side by side.

you may need to hit the shims with the sandpaper before applying the brake lube since there may be rust or other buildup. they're like $16 a pair so dont break em :lawl:

scuffing the rotor wont do a ton...scuffing the pads should do the trick.

I'd give this a try, but I don't have a jackstand.
So either I need to find a friend with one or buy one.

I'll also scuff the pads a bit, I did that before and the squeal went away for quite a while.

stands are maybe $25 and always useful

Yea I guess its about time I get some...
Haha, I don't know why but I always figured they cost more

2 tons would be enough, but should I go with 3 just to be safe?

i dont see a reason to...the 3 tons will be bigger, taller, and can go higher than your jack probably can...i like the shorter stands so you can put them under stuff closer to the ground. say you wanted to support your exhaust...the 3 ton ones may be too tall unless you can jack the car up high enough (and get it down again :jae:).

if the extra ton of weight capability gives you peace of mind, then go for the 3 tons...or even better, get a pair of each. you never know when more than 2 stands will be useful.

I will definitely pick up a pair 2 ton stands though, I didn't realize there is an actual size difference.

I really have no need for 3 ton ones though unless my moms murano weights 3 tons, lol

Ps.
This is completely unrelated but I had to post it somewhere.. lol
