yessirhaving lower extension and needing less power does not sound like a poison - maybe the bigger box required is the only drawback.
i (personally) wont take up more than 2 cubic feet since the trunk needs to do those things a trunk needs to do

would you guys recommend a ported then if i wanted smooth bass? i only switched to this sub cause i wanted a more SQ sub. i listen to R&B alot so i'd like the bass to be smooth.

how much space do you want to devote to a box? ever built a box? where's the box going to come from?
most (99%) of premade boxes are just...wrong. a nice sub will sound terrible in a wrong box.
