Car wont go past 4500 RPM

Hello all, Kind of stumped with this issue i'm having. I have a 98 Accord; and it decided it doesn't want to go past 4500 RPM. It normally shifts at about 3000-3500 RPM. Its a automatic. Red line is at 6000 RPM.

When i'm at a light and i press the gas to much and it gets to 4500 RPM the car just revs and wont go past it. No matter what it wont go past 4500. It starts to sputtering and revs and revs.If i ease on the gas at a light or just driving it will run fine. It shifts through all gears fine. Any Ideas? I checked all the fuses already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

^^This is confusing.

If you're stopped at a light and you rev the engine then you will hit a wall. Rev limiter. this is normal for automatic transmission.

What i meant was if i'm at a light and it turns green and i go(Example Mash on the gas pedal or press the gas to much) and it hits 4500 RPM it would start sputtering or just keeps reving. Not sure if thats clearer?

Is the cel light on? There are a couple codes that will put the car in limp mode. And it wont go above 4500.

Did not know a clogged cat could cause this.

Mine was clogged a few months back. It was acting the same way, I could cruise around fine but when I would get on the gas it wouldnt go past a certain rpm. Even in park or nutral when you should be able to rev it to like 3k it would struggle to get to like 2500. Gutted the cat and runs alot better. Just sounds like ish.

i thought in park it wouldnt let you go past 4500 or so, but in neutral it will let you rev to redline
