***Edited by Blacknight*** Here's a link for some good info FIRST This is how you get the code from the CEL Click here to reset your CEL It's pretty easy. look at the picture below, thats the service connector. If you look up under the dash on the drivers side footwell, its right there, just above the hood release. You need to jumper the connector, just like in the picture. I've found a paperclip is excellent for this task. what you want to do is this... 1. Jumper the service connector (obd2 port/plug) 2. Turn the ignition key to ON 3. Count the flashes on the instrument panel 4. Look up what the code means the flashes will be a series of long blinks, a pause, followed by short ones. For example: Long-Long-Long-Long-Long-Long-Long____ShortShort 7 long and 2 short, indicates a code 72, Cyl #2 misfire. Another option is to take your car to AutoZone and they will read the code for you for free. After you get the code check the list below for the problem To jump the obd2 connector with a paperclip in order to get the flashes: - get a metal paperclip - put one end in the corresponding hole on the front for the black wire on the back of the obd2 plug (the black wire should be at the bottom of the plug) - put the other paperclip end in the corresponding hole on the front for the brown wire on the back (should be a few pin holes up from the black wire) - this completes step #1 on the list just above, continue from step #2. **Disclaimer: 6GA.com and anyone who has added to this is in no way responsible for any damage you may cause to your car if you mess this up. this is a fairly simple thing to do as long as you do it right, and plenty of people have done this to figure out their CEL code without problems. if you are uncomfortable doing this, just take your car to autozone and have them scan it for free. always work within your ability.** First the codes with the OBD-II / yesssssss, ive been looking all over for somehing like this just incase. btw, code 22 would suck to get, haha. what book did you get this out of? i also have code 67 currently, ive had it before, but it went away, and now its back, im just gonna wait for my catback anf then throw on my mugen high flow cat and then that should be fixed.
Don't know, this info was originally posted by Eric (Blacknight) I'd assume a Helm's manual would include this stuff. My vote goes to autozone though lol, let them do it for free
If your Check Engine Light (CEL) comes on, this is to see what is wrong with your car before you take it in to get fixed. The list shows all the codes that the car can show, and also leaves a description on where and what is wrong.
well guys, haha, guess which code i got today! haha, yes yes, 22........vtec system malfunction. i htink its cuz i need an oil change? im gonna go check the level in a bit, i am overdue for one, not much tho, like 200-300? i dont think i put enough oil in last time i changed it, so i think the code was thrown cuz vtec wont work if you dont have enough oil or something, right? and i was going up a steep hill at the time too, sooo, im thinking, and hoping that thats just the problem, haha. i pulled over at the top of the hill to check the CEL, and it started up, had no problems or anything, even drove home fine. update: just checked the oil level, and yes, thats what it was. ill have to go get a quart and get my oil changed real soon, haha.
thats where the connectors actually is. if you mean the one with the wires and such, i could make one if wildmans is extinct, haha.
NOt exactly. I need to know how to "jumper" it. Wildmans instructions say that you short two pins? I was jsut wondering which ones.
