Re: Clicking?

Auto.

I'm about to bring it into a shop in a bit but if anyone has an idea of a possible culprit, that'll help before heading over there.

Yes I think i know what it is. Mine is doing the same thing I was at honda getting my auto fluid changed and they said that my carrier bearings are going out, so i have some axle play and the annoying clicking sound. So they said i would have to replace the tranny :wtf1:

Re: Clicking?

sounds like cv axle is bad or just the boot, does the clicking change with speed?

thats a definite posibility although unlikely. you could take it to a trans shop and possibly get a better deal on a rebuild as opposed to having honda replace it.

Re: Clicking?

Went to a shop yesterday (JC Auto House, if any locals are wondering) and it was difficult to find out what was going on. When he would drive the car, he doesn't notice it but when I drive it, I notice it. Hate when that happens lol. Anyway, thinking it could've been a shock problem, he bounced the car from the front with the e-brake engaged and we heard a clicking noise in both rear wheels. When we disengaged the e-brake the noise was gone.

So he decided to lubricate the caliper pins?

(Anybody know what that's really called?)

They turned out to be pretty dry so he put some grease on both pins on each side. Afterwards we shook the car again with the e-brake engaged and we no longer heard clicking in the rear. But when I test-drove it, I could clearly hear the same clicking sound that's in the video (not constant) on the driver front side. Since e-brake has nothing to do with the front, I don't know what the culprit is.

At least he fixed one of the noises. If the cv boot is not ripped, could the cv joint/axle still be failing?

Hmm, my tranny seems fine. It was a rebuilt tranny that I had put in a couple years back. So you saw the video I posted on the previous page and yours makes the same clicking sound?

No it doesn't. I really only notice it at speeds around 5mph. And it doesn't always happen. That's what sucks.

Re: Clicking?

Straight, and sometimes when turning the wheel too, but not all the time. Seems to happen when just turning the wheel to the left though. It's weird because it's not a popping sound but just a click like in the video.

Re: Clicking?

that's an odd noise. so its gone from the rear now but you still have it in the front? maybe check the caliper bolts on the front and see if they're dry too. put the car up on jacks and get someone to run the motor some. if it doesnt still make the noise then its probably not your brakes.

and yes, axles can go bad even if the cv boots arent damaged. all of my boots look brand new. i should be replacing my axles in the next week or 2

Re: Clicking?

I'm experiencing a clicking issue, too, but it seems like yours is much louder than mine, if yours is like that video. I can only hear mine after 40mph or so. I can hear it coming from the front-left of the car, and it's really faint, but loud enough to hear when driving. I'm completely lost as to what it would be, because I haven't found anybody experiencing the exact same issue I am. I've only found people with similar issues.
