Valid point, I forgot about the idea of reflashing the ecu due the immobilzer. I should have realized that , cause I have friend who works at Honda dealer and he does this all the time. At one point, I asked him to do it for me for a friend lol.

Just out of curiosity, how much does a ecu re-flash cost?

Doing it all at once would be ideal but that's not what the OP is doing. My thoughts are...If he plans to tackle the 5spd swap first, he's going to need a f23 5spd ecu which will require the matching keys or a ecu reflash. It may be smarter to spend the money now on a chipped ecu rather than later and save a couple bucks. He will spend a little more now but he will save a couple bucks in the long run.

This is correct, good sirs :)

I like the info sated above, very helpful.. I found a 5 speed ecu from a 99 6th gen, it'll cost 45 or so shipped from a buddy off this forum but if i have to pay for a flash (which I'll check out the dealership i guess) I might as well pay for the p28 chipped with basemap for a couple bucks more... it'll help motivate me to do the g23 sooner :)

Edit: With a reflash, will my key remote still work with this used ECU? (Doors, trunk, panic)
