I recently wrote a thread similar but this is a different question/area. How much would it cost me if I dropped my car off, along with the replacement engine for some mechanic to take out the old motor, drop the new one in, then take all the parts that are in the back seat and reinstall them? (also when my friend "tried" to do me a favor and do the swap, he didnt sort out the bolts, so they're kinda just mixed up in a box..) I'm growing impatient with my mechanic dad (7 months out of a car and owed a grand by a friend of his) and I need to get someone to sort this **** out. I understand the price always depends on the mechanic himself, but what do you think a mechanic would chargee? (its just a busted f23a4 being swapped with another one i bought from a junkyard. So nothing is changing.)

When I wanted my f23 swapped for an h22, they wanted to charge me 800 for just labor .. and this is a shop that i always go to for parts and whatnot so thats supposed to be a "hookup" lol.

Like you said, every mechanic will charge different.

For a job like yours my mechanic usually charges customers between $400 - $500 for a motor swap. Same motor.

When he did the 6spd conversion on my car, which included a motor swap ( J32A2 ) he charged me 600 bucks for everything, which I think its pretty good.
I did install Richie's Harness myself which 99% of it was done inside the car on the ecu.

Holy crap, that's cheap as hell. Almost worth driving to Florida for. lol

OP, I'd call around and get a few estimates to get a better idea. There are so many variables that factor into price.

So I've been thinking today... And I might be giving up on this headache. I was offered 900 for the shell a while ago and I'm going to try to sell it along with the motor, ($900-1300) I'm going to get my old man to cough up my $1000, i'm probably getting $1300 on my tax return, and I'll have around 2 grand saved up myself. I'll have between 5-6k in total around february, and i'll just get a no work needed purchase. Probably get a 4d black sedan, tinted windows. (preferably an accord or civic.) hope this all goes well.

Sounds easy but for me it won't be. My dad might just do it when I say I want my money by feb. IF i do go with this plan though, I'd buy a car that has everything done. My accord needs a new tranny too, so even if its running again I'm going to have to do so much **** to it. It's a big ordeal. I'm sick of this lol
